Ascend and PotentiaMetrics Collaborate to Launch a Disruptive Cancer Outcomes Platform

AscendPBM announced today that it has partnered with PotentiaMetrics to launch MyCancerJourney, a shared decision-making platform for cancer patients specifically designed to provide high-quality care while reducing the overall cost of treatment.

Research presented at the most recent meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology suggests that, in some cases, less treatment leads to better health outcomes for patients; additionally, a 2012 National Academies report found that 30 percent of healthcare spending was wasted. MyCancerJourney was developed with researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis to provide real-world information to patients and their healthcare providers on treatment decisions that provide the most benefit as well as cost-effective patient management options. This platform was created from data collected from specific cancer patients over the past decade and fills a critical informational need in cancer treatment.

We are thrilled to release this platform in collaboration with AscendPBM. Both of our organizations are focused on personalized approaches to healthcare that lead to improved outcomes and reduced cost for stakeholders. Together, we will provide personalized information to patients and address the ever-increasingly high cost of cancer treatment.

Ascend's payer community, consisting of health insurers, Third Party Administrators (TPAs) and self-funded employer groups, will have the ability to reduce cancer cost by integrating this shared decision-making platform for their patients and patients' healthcare providers. We estimate that a self-insured employer with 100,000 employees will save more than $8 million annually.

The analytical and AI healthcare solutions provided by PotentiaMetrics through the MyCancerJourney system is a one-of-a-kind platform and the first of many technological advances we are bringing to the healthcare ecosystem," said Ascend CEO Michael Ochoa.
